Chelsea officials to visit Tanzania
Dar es Salaam. Officials of Chelsea Football Club from England are expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday, where they will meet government leaders in Zanzibar and the Tanzanian mainland.
According to the Chelsea FC coordinator in Tanzania, Mohamed Reza Saboor, the delegation will involve Ms. Carly Telford, who is the commercial manager, and Barnes Hempel, the Head of Global Sales.
Saboor said on Thursday, the delegation will meet the President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, and later on have a discussion with the Zanzibar Minister for Information, Youth, Culture, and Sports, Tabia Maulid Mwita.”.
He said on Friday, the officials of the club will travel to Tanzania and meet with the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Sports, Damas Ndumbaro, where they will discuss various issues regarding sports development.
He said if possible, the delegation is scheduled to meet with President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The coordinator said officials are coming to Tanzania to promote sports and tourism-related issues. He said they will sign a memorandum of understanding with the football association where all major events will be featured on t-shirts.
“They want to support the football association in Tanzania and will open an academy on the mainland and Zanzibar,” he said. According to the Saboor, it will be a promotion for tourism in Tanzania if we go under the umbrella of Chelsea.
Chelsea Football Club has a fan base of more than 100 million members globally. He added that the Mou will benefit Tanzania since the club management will be encouraging their members and fans to visit Tanzania.
